Lighthouses: False Navigation Aides
Created concurrently with his Lighthouses: Bearer of Light and Darkness artworks, in this printmaking portfolio, Kevin considers related questions, and confronts who he identifies as the central messaging figure head-on. With the overlay of our current president's physical form and highly-recognizable characteristics onto the lighthouse body, the two bodies become conjoined and inseparable. Throughout this series, Kevin seeks to ask the viewer to carefully examine the content and consequences from the generally acknowledged, yet, in his view, largely unchallenged toxic messages being delivered by arguably the most powerful voice in the world, who was elected by a population of citizens of a country once viewed as a cornerstone and beacon of light for other democratic governments and societies who share a common commitment to adhere to the rule of law.
